Preparations are gearing up as staff from our 21 branches across Yorkshire are taking part in challenges to mark our 25th anniversary by raising £25,000 for Martin House Children's Hospice.

Since we launched the charity partnership with Martin House six years ago, our big-hearted team has raised more than £100,000.

Acquisitions Project Manager, Leah Nanji, and Head of Acquisitions. Jacqueline Kilpatrick, are taking on a 50ft abseil down the iconic Cow and Calf rocks at Ilkley Moor, while no less than 40 of our staff are taking part in Total Warrior, a 12k course made up of 25 punishing obstacles, 10 tons of ice and 100 tons of mud. We aim to raise £4,000 between for Martin House from this event alone.

As part of our “25 in 25” challenge, the team are also repeating the Mini convoy we staged a few years ago, when ourfleet of branded cars collected textiles, toys, books, DVDs and bric-a-brac across its branch network and took the stock to the Martin House warehouse for future sale in hospice shops.

All people need to do to take part is drop unwanted items into any of our High Street branches across Yorkshire before May 13th and our wonderful staff will transport them.

Donations can also be made to the branches of our sister company, Dale Eddison, in Ilkley, Otley and Skipton.

We are also doubling up our support for Martin House as part of Children’s Hospice Week. For any valuations - sales or lettings - booked between 20 and 26 June 2022, we will donate £10 to Martin House. If the property is then listed with Linley & Simpson, we will multiply this by 25, to mark its anniversary, increasing the donation to £250!

Emily Wilkinson, Wetherby Branch Manager, who also heads up all fundraising activities, said: “We are delighted to kick-start our anniversary programme of fund-raising initiatives.

“The work of Martin House has touched the lives of our people in many ways, and we are pleased to be able to ‘give back’ through this initial set of events as well as a host of others that are in the pipeline.

“With great team spirit, our people are determined to meet – and beat – this year’s fund-raising target and they have come up with no shortage of home-grown ideas to do it. Whatever their skills, interests and abilities, there is something for everyone to get involved in.”

Martin House supports families across West, North and East Yorkshire, by providing support and palliative care for more than 420 children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families - costing the hospice nearly £9m each year.
